Alta Vista bets strike gold at home in Sta. Lucia golf

CEBU, Philippines – Aside from enjoying the comforts of home, players from Alta Vista Golf and Country Club also know every inch of their course better that helped them to bag two of four division titles in the Cebu leg of the Santa Lucia Golf Tour 2014 played here over the weekend.

The tandem of Jufil Sato and Razi Razon bagged back-to-back Group 1 crowns while Rolando Alberto and Marlou Cugtas topped Group 2.

Sato and Razon, winner of the Group 1 title in the opening leg hosted by Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club in Davao, took the Cebu leg crown after a countback.

The winning tandem fired 52 points in the Molave Points System during the better-ball first round and then combined for 98 (Sato 50 and Razon 48) points on the second day for an aggregate of 150 points.  They were tied with Summit Point’s Lisandro Opulencia and Alan Alegre, who also made 150 points, but the former won the title by virtue of a better second day output.

In Group 2, Alberto and Cugtas, also pulled the rug from under the first day leaders to bag the title with a total of 147 points after an opening day of 49 and a second round output of 98.

Runner-up honors went to Summit Point’s Nelson Ventura and Walter Lacuesta with 143 (51-92).
