CEBU, Philippines — A revenue increase of close to P2 million more in 2023 was seen for Cebu City markets as compared to the previous year.

From P137.96 million in 2022, the city government got P139.55 million in 2023 through markets in the city, as disclosed by Robert Barquilla, head of the Office of City Markets (OCM) via the City’s News and Information team.

Most of last year’s revenue came from the three units of Cebu Carbon Market and the Pasil fish market.

Carbon market generated P41.8 million altogether while Pasil Fish Market got P31.4 million.

More revenue is expected in 2024 following the renovation of the Pardo Public Market late last year and the repair works of the wet market section of the Carbon Market. The OCM, which is a self-income generating office, was able to enter into a Public Private Partnership for the said project.

Aside from that, more income is expected to be generated as Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama looks into the further improvement of the Pasil fishport.

Mayor Rama has met with different concerned offices and departments for the improvements of the said fish port. - /ATO (FREEMAN)
