Rama eyes Charter Day incentives for JOs

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama will look into the possible inclusion of job orders in the service incentive or better known as the Charter Day bonus.

This after the approved supplemental budget by the City Council last Wednesday was only for the regular and casual employees.

A total of P67.5 million has been approved the other day with around P62 million of it for the employees’ bonus while the remaining amount will be for reimbursements to different departments accordingly, said Councilor Noel Wenceslao to The Freeman.

The amount approved for the service incentives will be for the 5,000 regular and casual employees, Wenceslao said.

“Only the regular and casual employees are entitled atong sa service incentives,” said Wenceslao.

Each of the regular and casual employees will get P15,000.

In the past, Rama had also given something for the job orders.

Rama said he will check with their budget officer regarding this concern.

“Yes as far as JO’s wala gyud sila ana nga amount, but I will check on how far we can go nga kapangitaan og money..and I will check how they are appreciated by the local finance,” said Rama to The Freeman yesterday.

Rama said he will also discuss with the local finance team that when there is a bonus, JOs must be included.

“Ako sad sila pahinumduman nga di na ta magbalik-balik nga kung maghisgot na tag bonus, apil nana sa ilang discussion ang JOs,” Rama added.

He said that even in their session with the League of Cities of the Philippines in Manila recently, even the Civil Service Commission had highlighted that even JOs and barangay officials should be given importance and should be part of the insurance and other benefits.

“Nindot kaayo nga discussion..Sakto kaayo nga nganong naa pa may distinction nga puros man ta nanarbaho,” Rama said.

The mayor is also pursuing his plan to give awards to under-valued employees yet doing a tough task in cleaning, construction, beautification, among others in the city on May 1 as a highlight for Labor Day. — GMR (FREEMAN)
