Laborer nabbed for P2.7 million drugs

CEBU, Philippines — The Drug Enforcement Unit of the Talisay Police Station led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy T. Caballes seized large packages of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation at Saint Rafael, Barangay Biasong, Talisay City yesterday morning.

The police identified the suspect as Lito “Tolits” Tagasling Canillas, 26, a resident in the area.

Caballes said that Canillas is considered a high value individual at the Regional Level Drug Watchlist.

Caballes added that Canillas is a native of Pasig City and arrived in Talisay in 2015 where he worked as a laborer.

According to Canillas, he was only ordered to deliver the drugs and he was paid P3,000 each time he delivered shabu. He said yesterday was his third time. He started this activity last December.

Caballes said that they monitored Canillas’ activity for two weeks and that he served as the “bodega” (warehouse) or Kabayo (horse) of an alleged drug player only known by the name of “Boss” who is allegedly incarcerated at the Cebu City Jail.

During the operation, the authorities recovered four large packs of 100 grams and a small pack believed to be shabu weighing 400 grams worth P2.7 million, which were placed in a black sling bag, as well as the buy-bust money.

The suspect will be charged with violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. —  GAN (FREEMAN)
