24 fire incidents already hit city

CEBU, Philippines — As of March 23, more than 20 fire incidents have already hit in the different barangays in Cebu City, according to the records of the Cebu City Fire Station (CCFS).

March has been considered the “Fire Prevention Month” because of the onset of the summer season.

Based on the data of the CCFS, 24 fires have already hit Cebu City that caused P11.5 million in total damages.

It was on March 17 that had the most fire incidents in Cebu City, when our local firefighters responded to five conflagrations.  There were three fires recorded last March 10, while there were fire incidents each last March 2, 4, 7 and 22.

Among the barangays that were hit with fire alarms this month include Barangays Mambaling, Sambag II, Tisa, Sambag 1, Inayawan, Guadalupe, Basak San Nicolas, Labangon, Kamputhaw, Kalunasan, Sapangdaku, Punta Princesa, Apas, Sta. Cruz and Mabolo.

The fire incidents have hit residential and non-residential structures alike, while there were also reports of fire involving vehicles.

The Cebu City Fire Station is constantly reminding the public to always be alert and know the causes of fire.

The CCFS has also lined up several activities this month to educate people on how to avoid fire as well as what to do in the event of a fire. (FREEMAN)
