Cebu LGUS suspend classes again

CEBU, Philippines —  At least 38 local government units in Cebu Province have cancelled another day of classes Thursday due to the inclement weather brought by the Low Pressure Area looming in the Mindanao and Visayas areas.

In the consolidated report by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the LGUs that have cancelled classes are Barili, Sta. Fe, Santander, Boljoon, Bantayan, Madridejos, Ronda, Oslob, Tudela, Liloan, Alegria, Moalboal, Catmon, Malabuyoc,  Minglanilla, Carmen, Dumanjug, Badian, Tabogon, Cordova, Pinamungajan, Ginatilan, Aloguinsan, Compostela, Pilar, Balamban, Daanbantayan, Medellin, Tabuelan, Consolacion, and Alcantara.

The cities of Carcar, Talisay, Danao and the highly urbanized cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu also suspended classes.

As of press time, the PDRRMO said no reported evacuees from the different towns and cities in Cebu Province as well as untoward incidents.

In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), light to moderate with occasional heavy rains would be experienced in southern Cebu, northern portion of Negros Oriental and Southern Leyte for two to three hours last night. — GMR (FREEMAN)
