PDEA-7 on alert for party drugs

Romeo Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 is validating reports that party drugs may already be proliferating nowadays, especially during the Christmas season when numerous parties and gatherings are taking place.

PDEA-7 Spokesperson Leia Alcantara said that now that the restrictions are lifted and the usual events like parties have returned, they are monitoring the possible return of these party drugs that will be used when there are events.

She added that they are not ruling out the possibility that the more than 2,000 tablets of ecstasy that the PDEA had seized in Barangay Pasil in the past months may be used for the December events.

“Isa na sa atong gitutukan gyud karon...Naa tay mga reports pero ongoing pa ang validation,” Alcantara said.

Alcantara has also urged their K-9 inspection teams in the seaports and airports to be more vigilant, so as to prevent the entry and exit of these illegal substances.

The PDEA is not the only agency conducting inspections at the sea and airports, but also the Bureau of Customs, Port Police, the Bureau of Immigration, among others.

“Inter-Agency gyud ang nag-conduct aning inspection nato. Sa airport hasta sa seaport kanang profiling of passenger, tan-awon basin naay suspicious activities, kanang K-9 inspection of baggage, luggage, simhuton sa iro kung in case naay gi-conceal nga mga illegal drugs,” said Alcantara.  – GAN (FREEMAN)
