E-bike driver nabbed with P2.5 million shabu

CEBU, Philippines —  More than P2.5 million worth of shabu were seized in a buy-bust operation Saturday night in Carlock Street, Brgy. Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

The operation was conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Dindo Alaras resulting in the arrest of a certain John Carl Entia Gimpayan alias Andrew, 24, an e-bike driver of the said place.

According to Alaras, Gimpayan was arrested in 2018 also for illegal drugs and was just released from jail this month.

During the operation, the police recovered various packs of suspected shabu weighing 375 grams worth more than P2.5 million.

"The arrest is a result of hard work and dedication shared between the police, force multipliers, and the community in our efforts to identify the source and the people behind the illegal drug trade operating in Central Visayas and other neighboring provinces," said Police Regional Office-7 director, Police Brigadier General Roque Eduardo DP Vega.

Appropriate charges will be filed against the suspect for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — GMR (FREEMAN)
