Bus terminals ask for higher budget for 2022

Based on the summary of appropriations by each office of the Cebu provincial government for fiscal year 2022, the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) and the Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT) are both proposing a higher budget for next year.

CEBU, Philippines — The management of the two provincial-run bus terminals of Cebu is pushing for a P46.7 million budget for its operations in 2022.

Based on the summary of appropriations by each office of the Cebu provincial government for fiscal year 2022, the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) and the Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT) are both proposing a higher budget for next year.

The CSBT and CNBT are seeking an increase of P8.88 million (23.50%) budget for its operations next year from the P37.8 million of this year.

The increase on the budget proposal for the bus terminal is expected since the province is now operating two terminals catering to passengers plying to southern and northern towns and cities of Cebu Province.

CSBT, the first one to be operated by the Capitol, is located in Natalio Bacalso Avenue in Cebu City while CNBT is the newly operated terminal by the Province sitting at the parking area of SM City Cebu in S. Osmeña Road and Kaohsiung Street in North Reclamation Area.

The proposed budget next year is expected to be used for the improvement and maintenance of the two terminals.

Aside from the terminal, the Capitol is also proposing a P10.9 million budget for its newly created Cebu Provincial Inter-LGU Waterworks System Office.

The office is created to address the water problem, developing potential water sources in some areas of the Province and improving the water system of each of the local government units in Cebu Province. — GMR (FREEMAN)
