CEBU, Philippines —  Talisay City Councilor Socrates Fernandez survived a motorcycle crash along Cebu South Road Properties in Barangay San Isidro on Thursday.

Fernandez, 79, a former Talisay City mayor, was driving a motorcycle on his way to church in Barangay Tabunok when the incident happened.

When he reached Barangay San Isidro junction, he tried to avoid the roadside signage but he was sideswiped by a 10-wheeler truck driven by Andrelle Billones of Toledo City.

Fernandez lost control of his motorcycle and fell on the road. His head was almost run over by the rear truck wheels.

Fernandez was able to get up and the truck immediately stopped.

Talisay City traffic head, Jonathan Tumulak, said that Billones told him that he saw the motorcycle close to his side prompting him to try to avoid but Fernandez was hit.

Fernandez was still able to attend the mass while Billones voluntarily submitted himself to the traffic police.
