CEBU, Philippines —  For lack of permit, the Cebu City government has ordered to take down the streamers sprouting in public areas in the city urging presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to run for president in the 2022 elections.

Architect Florante Catalan, chief of the city’s Office of the Building Official (OBO), said the streamers are considered illegal and should be removed from public structures.

The tarpaulins were believed to have been installed by the “Friends of Sara” who wanted her to succeed her father.

According to Catalan, the tarpaulins did not have a permit from his office. He said members of the Prevention Restoration Order Beautification Enhancement (PROBE), the city’s demolition team, will remove all the illegal streamers.

Pursuant to City Ordinance 1656, the 1996 Revised Zoning Ordinance, OBO is in charge of issuing streamers permit.

Earlier, Sara thanked her supporters for their efforts but said she is not seeking higher public office in the coming elections.

Sara is currently chairperson of the regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), which has endorsed several senatorial candidates in the last elections. — FPL (FREEMAN)
