Labella to keep working from home

In a virtual press conference Friday, Labella assured that his physical absence will not affect the delivery of the city's basic services.

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella will continue working from home as his doctors have not allowed him to return to City Hall just yet.

In a virtual press conference Friday, Labella assured that his physical absence will not affect the delivery of the city's basic services.

“Doctors’ advice lagi nako nga I should not stay in a crowded place because I am kanang gitawag bitaw nga immunocompromised,” said Labella.

Labella said it is also a preventive measure since there are some City Hall employees who tested positive for COVID-19.

The mayor also earlier disclosed that two of his office staff tested positive for the virus.

“I’m just following doctors’ advice nga if possible just stay at home. Anyway I can still work at home,” he said.

Labella did not specifically disclose until when he will observe the work from home arrangement.

He started overseeing the city from home last January 25, 2021 after a three-day medical leave due to an ear infection.

Even if he is working at home, the mayor assured that transactions at City Hall are running smoothly.

Labella is in constant communication with the Emergency Operations Center in the fight against COVID-19, as well as with his department heads, especially on important matters. — KQD (FREEMAN)
