CEBU, Philippines — Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has urged couples to avoid meeting in person to celebrate Valentine's Day on Sunday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, CCPO deputy director for operations, urged couples particularly those who will meet for the first time to avoid meeting while in the midst of the pandemic.
He expressed that couples can continue on with the celebration while having a "virtual relationship" so as not to contract the virus.
Aside from avoiding the virus, Parilla also emphasized security especially those meeting in person for the first time.
"Basin unya ang atong gika-meet duna nay virus, unya sa tanto ninyong panag-estoryahay makalimot og taud sa mask, matakdan. So, likayan lang usa ang panagkita labi na og first time pa nga mag-meet," he added.
However, Parilla jokingly said that couples can meet if they require each other to show their negative swab test results.
"Kun gi-require niya nga padalhon og swab test result niya, labing maayo, pwede ra nga mag-meet. Pero mas maayo gyud nga dili lang usa aron malikayan, magkita na kun naa nay vaccine, pwede na," he said. — GMR (FREEMAN)
