CEBU, Philippines — Operating beyond curfew hours and violating social distancing protocol were among the violations committed by 14 establishments in Cebu City.
Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) head Jared Limquiaco said the establishments operated beyond 11:00 p.m. which is the start of the city-wide curfew.
Limquaico said other violations include failing to implement social distancing in the establishments, and letting their customers drink more than two servings, the limit based on the Department of Trade and Industry memorandum as also stated in the executive order of Mayor Edgardo Labella.
“Makita namo nga past 11 nagtapok gihapon ang mga tawo. So, isa ka table, daghan nag-grupo, wala gyu’y social distancing,” said Limquiaco,
The police with the BPLO have been conducting Oplan Bulabog, checking establishments in the city if they were able to follow the minimum health protocols.
Since Friday last week, 14 establishments were issued show cause orders for allegedly violating the quarantine protocols.
No establishments were closed yet.
Limquiaco said after receiving the explanation, they will then resolve it in their office and give a recommendation to Labella.
He said some already submitted their explanation and the usual reason is that they cannot control the crowd.
“Para nako di man ni siya rason, cause kung naa tay business, isa mana sa responsibility nato nga mo-follow ta sa mga rules. If di nila kaya ma-implement ni, pwede man sila magpatabang sa police, sa barangay. If ever, dapat naa gyu’y sakto nga rason. Dili lang gyud kay dili nila ma-control ang crowd,” said Limquiaco.
“Ang business permit is gigunitan ni sa businesses as a privilege, not a right so, any time pwede ni siya ma-revoke. The only requirement for the revocation sa permit is due process, so mao ni siya ang due process kailangan sila ipa-explain before i-revoke,” he said. — KQD (FREEMAN)
