2 bicyclists killed in road accidents

CEBU, Philippines —  Two bicyclists were killed in separate accidents involving buses of Ceres Bus Liner in Mandaue City and in Consolacion town.

A 45-year old security guard identified as Sandy Ursal from Borbon town was killed Friday afternoon when he was hit by a passenger bus of the same company along M.C. Briones Street in Mandaue City.

Investigation disclosed that the victim was on his way home when the bus driven by Jerito Cabahug, 39, of Bogo City hit the handlebar of his bicycle.

The victim crashed after losing his balance and was run over by the bus.

Consolacion incident

Early morning yesterday, another bicyclist was killed along the national highway in Barangay Pitogo, Consolacion after he was hit by a passenger bus of the same company.

The bus driver was identified as Danny Responte, 32, a resident of Calatrava town in Negros Occidental.

Initial report from authorities said that the bus was bound for Cebu City from northern Cebu when the accident happened.

As of this writing, the victim remained unidentified. — GMR (FREEMAN)
