CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 welcomes the challenge of Secretary Roy Cimatu in bringing the COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas to zero by “going back to basics” through extensive security monitoring and massive contact tracing.
“Magpaningkamot ming tanan diri sa Amigo cops ug sa atong mga kauban sa LGUs, sa Cebu City, sa mga frontliners, sa tanang mga Cebuanos para atong ma-meet ang challenge ni Secretary Roy Cimatu,” said Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, PRO-7 chief.
Ferro said they will be going back to basic, specifically on the strict implementation of the minimum health standard, their regular rekorida and their extensive contact tracing.
“Ang atong bread and butter is actually the contact tracing nga mao ang dako ang tabang na ma-find out nato kung kinsa atong enemy which is basically dili nato makita. But with the contact tracing, we were able to have an idea,” said Ferro.
Ferro added that their goal of having zero-active case in Cebu will be difficult to achieve, however, they will be working hard along with the LGU and medical frontliners to accomplish the goal.
The current ‘single-digit’ trend in the number of cases in Cebu is an encouraging indicator, he said.
“It is doable with all the work that we have done with back to basics protocols and ang cooperation jud sa nga Cebuanos will be our aim to have a zero case in Central Visayas or here in Cebu City,” said Ferro.
At present, Ferro said their coordination with the local government is getting stronger.
“We would like to replicate the good experience and lessons learned here in Cebu City to the other parts in Central Visayas more particularly in the municipalities and cities,” Ferro said. — GAN (FREEMAN)
