CEBU, Philippines —  Four human remains believed to be victims of summary execution were uncovered by a resident in Sitio Bago, Barangay Cogon, Compostela, Cebu yesterday morning.

Captain Vincent Zozobrado, Compostela police station chief, said the gravesite was discovered by a resident in search for bonsai in the area at around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 6. For security reason, Zozobrado refused to identify the resident.

According to the chief of police, the resident’s curiosity was invited by the foul odor emitted from a swelling portion of the ground.

"Ang yuta kung imong kawtan then imo tabunan og balik mobugdo man ang yuta, n’ya karon kay sige baya og uwan so mas mosaka man sya, so naay ing-ana og itsura didto, so gaduda siya (resident), so gipakaykay niya," Zozobrado said.

The resident found least three gravesites in the area where he and the responding policemen excavated and found four human remains---three males, already in advance state of decomposition, and one skeletal remains.

The police believe that the four bodies were buried on different occasions.

"Ang katong permirong gikawot kay mao ang posibleng pinakaulahing gilubong kay buo pa man, mao pa may pagburot...for sure, dili ni sila dungan og lubong," said Zozobrado.

The remains were immediately submitted for autopsy to determine the cause of deaths. The police are also conducting investigation to identify the remains and the culprits.

Zozobrado believes the four victims are not from Compostela since they have not received any missing person report. — FPL (FREEMAN)
