Capitol to save P7 million for renting office tools

Le Phyllis F. Antojado-Orillaneda - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Government has projected a P7-million savings from the rental of printing, photocopying and scanning devices that all Capitol offices would be using.

The Capitol has already started the rental of 168 multi-function and single-function device for printing, scanning and photocopy from PhotoPro Trading and General Merchandise Company.

Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) Head Bernard Calderon said the 168 units’ rental is just P1,088, which would lessen the expenditures of the province.

From the hefty P9 million for the purchase of inks and toners and maintenance of photocopiers, scanners and printers before, the Capitol will just pay P2 million for the rentals of the new multi-functional device.

"You're welcome. And this (rental) includes unlimited ink supply" an overwhelmed Garcia expressed.

Based on the inventory conducted by the Capitol of all the printers, copiers, and inks last February 6 to 18, the Capitol owns 544 working printers (90 are not working); 109 working copiers (27 are defective); 442 toners and 1, 267 inks.

Garcia was shocked to learn that some of the offices are keeping toners and inks which the governor thinks was impractical.

"Unsa man, magtinda na sila?" Garcia said.

The governor said they will submit their inventory before the Commission on Audit, as they seek approval for the disposition of these devices. GAN (FREEMAN)
