PRO-7 to monitor cops regardless of rank

CEBU, Philippines —  The Police Regional Office-7 and the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will intensify monitoring of their personnel’s compliance with the PNP Chief’s directives after three Central Visayas police officials were relieved from their post for playing golf.

Police Brigadier General Domingo Say Cabillan, Deputy Regional Director for Administration, told reporters in a press briefing yesterday that the three police officials who were relieved are now under investigation for grave misconduct.

Cabillan said that playing golf was one of the Chief PNP’s guidelines to the uniformed group after he was appointed to the post.

“Police Regional Office-7 will strengthen its campaign to cleanse its ranks and will strictly punish those who will be found violating the rules and don’ts of the Chief PNP.  Police Brigadier General Val De Leon warns all the Police officers in Central Visayas to abide of the rules of the PNP,” Cabillan said.

According to Cabillan, they are now awaiting for the arrival of the replacements of the three police officials.

They already have the names, but refused to give further details.

At present, Cabillan said the tasks that the three police officers had left were taken over by their deputies and that their relief did not affect their operations in the regional office.

Meanwhile, Police Lieutenant Colonel Clark Arriola, Information of CCPO, said that they will adhere to instructions coming from their national headquarters.

Arriola added that their Intelligence Branch will be monitoring, alongside with the leadership, while the station commanders are closely eyeing their police personnel on the ground.

“Kani atong station commander mao ni ang naa nato sa ground.  They are also directed to monitor their own personnel and bisag kinsa muadto sa places deemed unauthorized places,” Arriola said.

Arriola also said that they are closely monitoring all policemen, regardless of rank.

“Of course, siyempre pag official ka you should set the example.  Mao na pirmi isulti sa city director nga kung unsa among ginabuhat, mao na ginasundan sa imong mga ubos.  So, we should walk the talk,” Arriola said.

At present, Arriola said that they have not received any reports regarding cops who violate the PNP guidelines. GAN (FREEMAN)
