CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama yesterday flaunted the achievements of the Sanggunian Panlungsod under his watch during his first 100 days in office.

As part of the agenda for the regular session of the council yesterday, Rama was given the floor to lay down his achievements before members of the council and Mayor Edgardo Labella.

Rama emphasized the “paradigm shift” which he wishes the whole Sangguniang Panlungsod will uphold to encourage productivity.

The council, through the committee of health and sanitation, launched the anti-dengue campaign and the African Swine Flu awareness campaign, for which a team was convened to strengthen prevention and control measures by proposing legislations.

Rama said the paradigm shift also encourages productivity of the sanggunian as it has now passed 768 resolutions, 60 committee reports, and three ordinances.

At least 70 draft ordinances are also pending before the council, most of which are about protection of environment, promotion of education, enhancement of public safety, and empowerment of senior citizens and persons with  disability (PWDs).

Rama also highlighted that the sanggunian supports the efforts of the executive department in preserving the environment like the clean-up activities at the Guadalupe River and Mahiga Creek.

Rama also said that Labella also signed an executive order to transfer the management, operations, maintenance and control of the legislative building to the council.

“As I said, a hundred days or so has been done. But towards 2021 and 2022, so many days still to look forward to, but if we are one, all for one, together we can make the 15th Sangguniang Panlungsod (productive) with the mayor’s support,” said Rama. JMD (FREEMAN)
