Man charged for ‘groping’ teen girl

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Prosecutor's Office has charged a man before the court for allegedly committing lascivious acts against a 16-year old girl.

"...in the basis of the affidavit of the complainant and other evidence submitted, there is reasonable ground to believe that the crime of acts of lasciviousness has been committed and that the accused is probably guilty thereof," Prosecutor II Genevieve Tabada-Lawas stated.

The FREEMAN is withholding the names of the parties due to the nature of the case.

In her complaint, a 16-year old girl alleged while she was sleeping in her room, October 11, 2018, she was awakened when someone touched her private part.

Allegedly, it was the live-in partner of her sister, a 21-year-old man.

Lawas issued a subpoena against the accused, a resident of Barangay Apas, Cebu City, to file his counter-affidavit but the latter failed.

Thus, she resolved the complaint and found probable cause.

He took advantage of the fact that the unsuspecting victim- who was asleep, and trusted him being a live-in partner of her own sister who resides with them under the same roof-to arouse and gratify his sexual desire, ruled Lawas.

A bail of P200,000 was recommended for accused temporary liberty. (FREEMAN)
