PRO-7 to recruit 300 cops

CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) will be recruiting 300 additional police officers before the end of the year.

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas announced that the recruitment process has officially started.

He said that applicants may approach the nearest police headquarters in order to save expenses in sending application directly to the regional headquarters, in Cebu City.

He said those who are in Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental may course their application through the respective provincial headquarters.

It will be the provincial headquarters that will submit applications to PRO-7.

Among the initial requirements is that an applicant should not have any derogatory record.

For men, they should stand at least be 5’3” and for women, they should be at least 5’2” in height.

Sinas said that they also must have a four-year degree course, preferably of Bachelor of Science in Criminology, or equivalent and have passed the National Police Commission examination.

Recruits who passed the recruitment process will be subjected to rigorous training in the PNP Regional Training Center in Sibonga.

They will have a rank of Police Patrolman, entitled a full salary and benefit package starting at least P30,000 a month.

With several reports on erring policeman, Sinas said the new recruits have to expect very strict training for them to uphold a policeman’s sworn oath and stay away from illegal activities.

“Those na marecruit, are a new breed of policeman na dili magpabadlong. Siguruhon gyud namo ang training,” Sinas said. (They will be new breed of police who will not be scalawags.) (FREEMAN)
