Five Tabogon workers positive of drug use
CEBU, Philippines — Four government employees and one tanod tested positive of illegal drug use in a random drug test, according to the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO).
All of them are still subject for confirmatory tests. The series of surprise drug testing was conducted in August and September.
The four employees who tested positive are from the town of Tabogon. The test was conducted to 389 officials and civil servants last August 1.
On August 8, all 303 employees of the Madridejos municipal government tested negative.
On August 20, a total of 185 individuals were subjected to a drug test.
Twelve were officials, 23 were cops, and the remaining 150 were government employees. All of them tested negative.
All 15 prison guards of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) - Minglanilla also tested negative in the test last August 23.
In Naga City, its 93 randomly picked employees all tested negative on a drug test conducted last August 28.
The following day, same test was conducted to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Department of Education - Cebu Province. All 183 turned out negative.
This September, Santa Fe, Cebu was the first venue for the drug testing. The test was conducted last September 3.
Of the 275 individuals, no one tested positive of illegal drug use, including its mayor and vice mayor.
On September 4, all 376 teaching and non-teaching staff of Tabogon, Cebu also tested negative.
The same is true with the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Tabuelan town last September 6. All were randomly chosen.
All 198 tested employees of Poro town turned out negative also. The test was facilitated last September 17.
On September 10, 59 civil servants of Barangay Poblacion, Danao City were tested. Only one tanod turned out positive.
CPADAO Chief Carmen Remedios Durano-Meca said that the series of drug tests is part of their efforts to promote drug free workplaces. — GAN (FREEMAN)
