Amid rumored destabilization

MANILA, Philippines — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Central Command and the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas have assured that all their officers and men have continued to support President Rodrigo Duterte amid the alleged destabilization plot.

LT. Col. Medel Aguilar, spokesperson of the AFP-CentCom, said they have not monitored any unauthorized troop movement.

“Wala namang destabilization report within our units, we are as united as can be,” Aguilar said.

Aguilar issued the statement amid reports of alleged ouster plot against Duterte. No less than the President revealed the alleged plot by the Communist Party of the Philippines and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to oust him from office.

Aguilar, however, said they are on red alert status. All personnel were not allowed to leave and are advised to stay inside the camp. He also dismissed speculations that the recent explosion at the business establishment owned by controversial businessman Peter Lim is connected with the bombing incidents in Isulan town in Sultan Kudarat.

“We checked with our intelligence and there is no connection, walang message,” Aguilar said.

PRO-7 spokesperson Supt. Reyman Tolentin also issued the same assurance. He said the police are all out in their support to the President.

“Sa amo sa kapulisan, there is no reason na mag-create ta og destabilization kay ang presidente is all out support sa kapulisan, so if ever naa silay plans dili na mag-fruit,” Tolentin said.

Tolentin emphasized that the police are in ‘exceptionally higher’ morale under Duterte compared to the previous administrations.

“Even police nga madismiss sa serbisyo tungod sa pagperform iya man gani tabangan,” he said.

Tolentin said the police are also in red alert status like the military. The red alert status started last month at the height of the bombings in Mindanao. According to Tolentin, it is more of a precautionary measure. (FREEMAN)
