Fire razes P1M equipment, properties
CEBU, Philippines — Almost P1 million worth of properties and equipment went up in smoke after a fire hit two establishments that sell industrial supplies in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City at around 1 a.m. yesterday.
The fire also damaged a portion of a nearby bakeshop.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Edson Dapal of Mandaue City Fire Station said they received an alarm at 12:53 a.m. and immediately responded to the affected area located in Purok Bayabas.
Some alarm equipment, fire extinguishers, cable wires, and several pieces of machinery were among the items razed by the fire that lasted for more than an hour.
Estimated damage is pegged at around P975, 000.
Dapal said there is a possibility that the fire was due to electrical misuse or shortcircuit but fire responders will continue to investigate to determine the real cause.
The incident was raised to third alarm status and fire trucks from other barangays responded.
The fire was controlled at 1:34 a.m. No one was reported hurt.—/MBG (FREEMAN)
