700 PWDs enjoy party, get gifts

CEBU, Philippines — Smiles and laughter filled the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City Saturday morning as around 700 persons with disabilities were treated to a Christmas party by the Lapu-Lapu City Government.

Mayor Paz Radaza, in an interview, said PWDs, children and adults, enjoyed the parlor games, prizes, and Christmas gifts that day.

Clowns wearing colorful wigs as well as stuntmen walking on sticks and dressed in bright and colorful costumes had painted smiles on the faces of the children.

They were also amazed when the famous bee, a fast food mascot, in the country visited them.

“Every year, duna man gyud ta’y Christmas party  sa atong mga PWDs kauban sa atong mga kabataan ug mga dagko, and then kani sad sa atong party dinhi of course, diri man ang lunch and adunay mga games and gi-invite nato si Jollibee,” Radaza said. (Every year, we hold a Christmas party for the PWDs.  Today, we had lunch here, we also have games and we invited Jollibee.)

At the end of the party, Radaza distributed gifts to the PWDs in coordination with the City Social Welfare Office (CSWO).

Earlier, the city government distributed P3,000 as a gift for the PWDs in the city in line with the celebration of Christmas. (FREEMAN)
