2 women nabbed for drug smuggle attempt at CJ

CEBU, Philippines — Two female visitors at the Cebu City Jail were arrested yesterday morning after they were caught attempting to smuggle more than P350,000 worth of suspected shabu, which they hid in their private parts.

City Jail Warden Renante Rubio said Jail Officer Maria Geraldine Galsing apprehended the two women at the searching area after the visitors tried to smuggle small and big packs of suspected shabu.

Galsing arrested a certain Marilyn Estorgio, 20, of Barangay Kalunasan at around 9:30 a.m. yesterday.

Estorgio was caught with small and medium packs of suspected shabu, seven dried tobacco, one lighter, and a cellphone.

“This is my 18th day of being assigned at the Cebu City Jail and I asked my jail officers to use mirrors and flashlights in searching. I’m happy nga naka dakop gyod ta ug napugngan ang pag sneak in ug contraband,” Rubio told The FREEMAN.

Using the mirror and flashlight, Galsing reportedly noticed that there was an item that was protruding from Estorgio’s private part.

When Galsing confronted Estorgio about the item, the latter reportedly said that it was just an intra-uterine device which is for birth control.

“Ang gipakuha nato sa items ang mga hingtungdan gyod. Dili atong jail officers,” Rubio said.

Estorgio was visiting her live-in partner, a certain Gaspin Castillo, who is reportedly imprisoned because of a drug-related case.

Thirty minutes later, Galsing again was able to arrest another person.

Violeta Bacus, 43, from Barangay San Nicolas Proper, was caught with a big pack of suspected shabu reportedly worth P350,000, said Rubio.

Bacus reportedly was about to visit her live-in partner, a certain Rolando Pulgo, who is also imprisoned due to a drug-related case.

Bacus and Estorgio are now jailed at the Guadalupe Police Station while waiting for the filing of appropriate charges tomorrow. (FREEMAN)
