Man indicted for using fake money

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 41-year-old man for allegedly using counterfeit money.

Prosecutor II Aurora Peñaflor held Michael Dalasdas, of Sitio Cogon, Barangay Labangon, for trial for violation of Article 168 of the Revised Penal Code. Dalasdas opted not to undergo preliminary investigation to answer the allegations against him.

Peñaflor recommended P20,000 for Dalasdas’ temporary liberty.

Kimberly Jill Dequillo, 20, alleged that while she was inside the mall in Cebu City on May 4, 2017, a man who was later identified as Dalasdas approached her and asked that his two P500 bills be changed to P1,000, to which she agreed.

Dequillo wondered why Dalasdas left immediately after receiving the bill. She then discovered the money was counterfeit and shouted for help. Leonard Nuñez, a house detective of the mall, chased Dalasdas and arrested him.

When frisked, Dalasdas yielded six P1,000 fake bills. He was brought to Carbon Police Station. (FREEMAN)
