Cebu PB honors another PMA grad

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Board has commended another Cebuano who graduated from the Philippine Military Academy as part of the Sanggalang ay Lakas at Buhayna Alay Para sa Kalayaan ng Inang Bayan (SALAKNIB) Class of 2017.

The PB on Monday passed a resolution commending 2Lt. Fritz Amaquiton Entoma, a native of Barangay Lumbang, Dalaguete. The measure was sponsored by Board Member Jose Mari “Tata” Salvador of Cebu’s second district.

Entoma, 23, is the third among the six children of Lumbang Barangay Captain Benjamin Entoma, a farmer, and Ma. Elena Entoma, a plain housewife.

Fritz graduated from Lumbang Elementary School and Casay National High School, both in Dalaguete.

He studied Bachelor of Science in Criminology for two years at the University of the Visayas-Main Campus as a working scholar before joining the PMA in April 2013.

“This exceptional achievement of 2Lt. Entoma is a typical example of the saying ‘poverty is not a hindrance to success,’” Salvador said in his resolution.

Salvador further said he heard of another PMA graduate from Samboan, also in the second district, but his staff is still verifying the report.

Last March 20, the PB also passed the resolution sponsored by Board Member Alex Binghay commending 2Lt.Meriam Libongcogon, a housemaid and a native of Barangay Biasong, Balamban, for successfully graduating from the PMA, also of SALAKNIB class, despite adversities in life.

Libongcogon is also set to receive a commendation from the House of Representatives after Third District Representative and Deputy Speaker Gwendolyn Garcia filed House Resolution No. 873, congratulating and commending her.

Libongcogon, 25, is the second child of Mario Libongcogon, a farmer and carpenter, and Florida, a housewife. —/JMD (FREEMAN)
