With reports to rig election: Cayetano asks for voters' vigilance

CEBU, Philippines - Vice presidential candidate and Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano is calling on the electorate, especially Cebuanos, to be vigilant against any form of cheating on May 9.

Cayetano, the running mate of presidential frontrunner Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, said they received reports of unusual movement or mobilization that could possibly lead to attempts to change the election results, especially in the vote-rich provinces.

Cayetano asked authorities to do their jobs in ensuring that the voting and the counting process would be peaceful and reflect the true sentiments of the people.

Cayetano was in Cebu the other night to speak to thousands of their supporters attending the "Bisaya na pud!" concert. He asked for the public to continue to pray for a peaceful and honest election.

"Daghang salamat sa sobrang suporta na ginawa nyo. It's been an amazing campaign. For the first time in history, we will have a president for the people, of the people, by the people," said Cayetano.

Baste Duterte, youngest son of Mayor Duterte, reminded the crowd in the same event that his father is running for president for the Filipino people and not for the criminals, druglords and few elites.

He also urges Cebuano not to be swayed by money of some candidates in exchange for their votes. —(FREEMAN)
