500 Pantawid families get ‘Bags of Blessings’

CEBU, Philippines- The Metrobank Group has distributed "Bags of Blessings" to 500 less fortunate families in Toledo City, Cebu.

The bags were distributed to families identified by the Department of Social Welfare and Development as grantees or beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya program. Each bag contained rice, sugar, cooking oil, canned goods, noodles, coffee and snack packs.

Present during the distribution over the weekend were city and barangay officials, as well as officials of DSWD and PNP, and officials from Metrobank.

The "Bags of Blessing" program is a brainchild of Metrobank Group Chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty in line with the celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Believing that it is important to share prosperity at the start of the year, Ty allocated P10 million to purchase food items for 10,000 less fortunate families nationwide.

The project is being organized by the GT-Metro Foundation, Ty family foundation and Metrobank Foundation together with the Metrobank Group and GT Capital Holdings, which manages the business interests of the Ty family in the Philippines, including Global Business Power Corporation in Toledo City.

Among the institutional partners of the project are the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, the DSWD, Air 21, Hapee and the Toledo City government. (FREEMAN)
