CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested while more than P700,000 worth of illegal drugs was confiscated by operatives of the Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch in Barangay Valladolid, Carcar City, Cebu Friday afternoon.

Rodel Quijano, 39, was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by PIB in his residence.

Inspector Leo Logroño, PIB team leader, described Quijano as a level-three drug pusher who is considered a bigtime drug personality in Carcar City.  He said that most of Quijano’s customers are from the city.

Logroño added that Quijano was previously involved in a shooting incident, which was settled already.   Quijano was placed under two-week surveillance, which confirmed his illegal drug activities.

The police seized two large packs of suspected shabu, two medium-size packs of suspected shabu, and ten smaller packs of the same substance and a 9mm Black Widow pistol loaded with ammunition from Quijano’s pocket.

The illegal drugs recovered reportedly weighed a total of 60 grams with an estimated street value of P708,800.

Logroño added that they also recovered Quijano’s cellphone.

Quijano is temporarily in the custody of PIB. He will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and for illegal possession of firearms in violation to Republic Act 10591.  (FREEMAN)
