DOLE recognizes training center in Compostela town

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas has recognized a training center in Barangay Poblacion, Compostela town as child labor-free establishment.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz personally awarded the plaque of recognition to Brian Yuson, president of St. James Academy Skills Technology, after having complied with the general labor standards, occupational safety, and health standards.

 Yuson said it is an honor for them to receive the recognition in time for the celebration of Children’s Month.

 DOLE-7 Director Exequiel Sarcauga said that based on the results of the ocular inspection conducted at St. James Academy Skills Technology, Inc., the establishment has complied with all the requirements in their continuing operations especially the health and safety of the students and the employees.

 Sarcauga said that St. James Academy Skills Technology, Inc. is one of the training centers, business and industrial establishments recognized by the department.

 He lauded the management of the training center under Yuson for complying with the requirements of DOLE.

 The training center accredited by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority has produced highly-trained welders, automotive, housekeeping and other workers who are now working here and abroad.

 Mostly of these workers were hired by big business and industrial establishments in Manila and also in other countries.

 DOLE-7 acknowledged St. James Academy Skills Technology, Inc. for its linkages and good relationship with TESDA and the local government units in Cebu in helping out-of-school youths and trained them with vocational courses. (FREEMAN)
