Brgy officials receive Q2 allowance from city

CEBU, Philippines - All barangay officials in Cebu City are richer by a few thousand pesos after receiving yesterday their cash incentives for the second quarter from the city government.

The barangay captains received P15,000 each while the councilors received P9,000 each. The amount covered the months of May, June and July.

Barangay Captain Altea Lim of Poblacion Pardo said aside from spending the money for her family, she will also share it to her constituents who are in need of assistance.

“(Share it with my) constituents nga mangayo’g tabang. In fact, from other barangays, moanha gyud diha, not just from Cebu City but naa pay taga Bohol and other provinces moanha sa atong barangay (to ask for help),” Lim said.

Lim admitted the amount is not enough but she is happy what the city government has given to them.

“Dili lang sad ta mo-demand, kung pila lay ihatag sa city government kay bonus naman na,” she said.

Reggie Licanda, councilman of barangay Pahina San Nicolas, said he wishes for the increase of the cash incentives.

“There’s no such man gyud na enough, kuwang man gyud, of course nag-wish (for an increase of the incentives),” he said.

He also hopes that the distribution of the cash incentives would not be delayed. Last distribution was on the month of May.

Another councilman, William Racoma of barangay Toong, said the amount is a great help for them in the barangay. The barangay officials thanked Mayor Michael Rama for giving them the amount. (FREEMAN)
