2 with arrest warrants nabbed

CEBU, Philippines -  Two men believed to be drug pushers with pending arrest warrants were caught in separate operations conducted by San Nicolas Police Station in Cebu City over the weekend.

The suspects were identified as John Nabua, 18, who was arrested at past midnight yesterday and Roderick Taborada, 36, at past 9 pm on Saturday. Both were caught in Barangay Calamba.

According to the police, a warrant of arrest is out for Nabua for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. The warrant was issued by Judge Manuel Patalinghug of the Regional Trial Court Branch 22.

Police were tipped off about the suspect’s presence at A. Lopez St. resulting to his arrest.

Chief Insp. Chuck Barandog, chief of San Nicolas Police Station said.

Barandog said Nabua is reportedly a drug pusher.

Taborada was initially arrested by barangay tanods on Friday for allegedly misbehaving and causing trouble.

Police learned that the suspect also has a pending warrant of arrest for a drug violation issued by Judge Eric Menchavez of RTC Branch 21.

Barandog said Taborada reportedly sells drugs in Barangay Calamba.

He further disclosed that Taborada is included in their target list of drug personalities but they failed to locate him last June.

“Kung wala ni siya ma-involve sa gubot atong Biyernes di pa ni madakpan unta,” added Barandog.

Barandog, serious in his campaign against illegal drugs, said he will conduct his own investigation aside from that of the Police Regional Office-7.  (FREEMAN)
