Captive escapes moments before his “freedom”

CEBU, Philippines - A 17-year-old detainee escaped from the Medellin Police Station Wednesday afternoon before he was supposed to be released from police custody.

Jessie Cualbar Allado of Barangay Kawit, Medellin, bolted out from the police station through the French window of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk office around 5 p.m.

Allado was under the custody of the police just recently for robbery but, the complainant refused to pursue the filing charges against him.

Chief Inspector Fructuoso Lim Jr. said that Lawyer Aldwin Flores of the Public Attorney’s Office of  the Marcelo Fernan Palace of Justice in Barangay Dakit, Bogo City suggested that Allado should be turned over to the custody of the parents or be placed inside the police station and not inside the stockade.

“Minor man gud ni siya pwede ra i-custody sa police station pero dili sulod sa prisuhan pero ang complainant dili na man modayon og file og kaso,” Lim said in a phone interview.

Lim added that they were processing the released paper of Allado and checked the suspect at the WCPD office when the latter was gone.

“Tag-an man mi atong bataa nga moeskapo gyud kay klaro kaayo sa iyang nawong,” he said.

Allado made his way out through the window at the back portion of the WCPD office.

“Tayaon na man pud to ang bintana kay nag-atubang sa dagat unya wala gyud mabantayi namo kay siya ra man diha sa sulod,” Lim said.

Allado was separated from the other detainees.

Upon learning the incident, police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation in order to locate the whereabouts of Allado.

Lim said they will be submitting their investigation report to the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch for their explanation.  (FREEMAN)
