Seventh most wanted arrested

CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested the seventh most wanted person in the city and an alleged hitman of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity on Friday afternoon.

Mark Anthony Santillas, alias Macsas, 30, was arrested by City Intelligence Branch operatives just outside his residence in Barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

Inspector Wayne Magbanua, CIB deputy chief, told reporters that Santillas is on the list of the most wanted persons in the city.

He added that Santillas’s arrest has a cash reward of P150, 000. He has been hiding since 2012.

He was charged with the killing of Mark Fran Jaca, who was shot in 2012.

Magbanua said that Santillas’ arrest is the result of their campaign against most wanted persons.

He added that a month ago Cebu City Police Office had distributed bookmarks, fans and posters containing the names of the person and the crimes that they have committed.

Magbanua said that their campaign so far had gained wide support by the public.

He said that they received a positive response from the public who informed them of Santillas’ whereabouts.

Santillas was fixing his multicab when CIB operatives arrested him in Pasil Friday afternoon.

But Santillas told reporters that he was not arrested but he voluntarily surrendered to the authorities.

When asked about the shooting incident, he said that he has no idea about the allegations.

He did not deny the allegations nor confirm it, he only said he will answer all the questions in the court.

Santillas also said that his friends told him that he’s face was all over the city, he jokingly saying “sikat na ko.”

Upon learning that he had been charged with murder, he decided to surrender, but police officers were faster than him.  (FREEMAN)
