UNA expects 50T supporters

CEBU, Philippines - The proclamation rally of the United Nationalist Alliance targets over 50,000 crowd during the proclamation rally tomorrow.

The venue will be at the Plaza Independencia. Construction of the stage is in progress.

Ritchie Wagas, point person of UNA in Cebu, said UNA staff in Manila has inspected the venue and saw it fit to accommodate more than 50,000 supports from the province and Cebu City who will attend the proclamation rally.

Tomorrow’s rally will open the 90-day campaign period for senatorial candidates. UNA chose Cebu to hold its proclamation rally to show support for suspended Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

Present tomorrow will be the complete slate of UNA including the “three kings” of Philippine politics – Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada.

The complete UNA slate include Cagayan Rep Juan Ponce “Jack” Enrile Jr., San Juan Rep. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, Sen. Gregorio Honasan II, Resigned Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, Zambales Rep Milagros “Mitos” Magsaysay, Former Senator Richard Gordon, Former Senate President Ernesto Maceda, Former Tarlac Gov. Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco; Binay’s daughter Nancy Binay-Angeles; Sen. Loren Legarda, as guest candidate; Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, as guest candidate; Movie and Television Review and Classification Board Chairperson Grace Poe-Llamanzares, also as guest candidate.

All One Cebu candidates in the province and Team Rama candidates in Cebu City will also be there.

The arrival will start at 3 p.m., but the program proper will be at 7 p.m.

Wagas said each national candidate has their own security details but they also requested security from the Philippine National Police.

Today, UNA candidates will arrive in Cebu and will hold a press conference in Lahug.  (FREEMAN)
