CEBU, Philippines —  The elimination round of the 2022 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball season ends today with a double-header in the juniors division at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles will go up against the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Baby Wildcats in the 5:15 p.m. opener, while the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters will tackle the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers in the main game at 6:45 pm.

Regardless of the outcome though, the Magis Eagles are already assured of the No.2 spot and a twice-to-beat incentive in the Final Four with a 7-1 win-loss record.

In the same manner, the 6-2 Baby Webmasters are sure to finish as third seed whatever is the result of their game against the Baby Panthers.

On the other hand, the Baby Wildcats and the Baby Panthers, both carrying 4-4 slates, are hard-pressed to win to keep their flickering semifinal hopes alive.

Of the two, CIT-U has the brighter chances. If they upset the Magis Eagles, the Baby Wildcats will book the fourth and last semis spot, eliminating in the process the 5-4 University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers via winner-over-the-other rule. — EBV
