Telco-enabled smart device security with "TARA"
A new subscription-based mobile security service drew a lot of attention from Pinoy netizens last week, owing to the functional upsides it affords its subscribers with.
Named "TARA" (which is short for "Theft Alarm & Recovery App"), the service platform is designed to protect credentials, contacts, photos, videos, emails and other forms of personal data stored in a smartphone or tablet.
Essentially a "remote kill switch" for a smart device, "TARA" is telco-enabled - which means that it can function with or without mobile internet access or the availability or unavailability of prepaid load.
Developed by Galileo Software Services Inc., the service functions as a deterrent against cases of identity theft that are associated with a stolen smartphone or tablet. Currently, "TARA" supports the Android mobile operating system and is available for Smart, Sun and Talk N' Text subscribers.
More information about "TARA" - security coverage, subscription package options and other related documentation - is available on tara.com.ph.
