Laguna Café turns 22

CEBU, Philippines - As if it was only yesterday when Julita P. Urbina started her now famous chain of restaurant and catering business as a small carenderia in Lahug, Cebu City.

But, armed with her passion and love for cooking, and guided by hard work and sincere desire to give her customers their money's worth, Julita opened Café Laguna to be Ayala Center Cebu's food establishment in 1994…and further giving rise to Laguna Garden Café, Lemon Grass, Café Laguna SM, and the establishments of four franchised Café Laguna in Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Davao and Dumaguete.

Thus, a full moon ago, Doc Eric and Lita Urbina celebrated the 22nd anniversary of Café Laguna with a "Bongga Fiesta Buffet" lunch with friends, loyal customers and media personalities in attendance. Their very supportive children are helping the business…Jill U. Viado, Grace U. Absin, John & Raki Urbina were very much visible during this all-important day!

And speaking of Laguna Café, Evelyn Dakay, now a resident of Orlando, Florida, USA, was given a despedida merienda-cena by friends from Jesu Christi Community. Actually, Evelyn came to Cebu as one of the ninangs during the wedding of a nephew, plus visiting relatives and friends, as well as to say "hello" to hubby Jun Dakay. After visiting Oslob, Bohol and other interesting places, Evelyn left back to Orlando where she is working as a professional nurse!

The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME), Mandaue Chapter, held their 3rd General Membership Meeting, Technical Seminar and election of officers at the 1521 Reception Center, San Miguel, Mandaue City.
