Breastfeeding Station

CEBU, Philippines - Have you ever experienced when your child crying aloud because he/she was hungry and you were at the mall with nowhere to go for you to breastfeed?

SM City Consolation recently launched a breastfeeding station with a blessing and breastfeeding program.

There’s no need for mothers to worry when their child gets hungry and they’re in the middle of the mall, the breastfeeding station allows them to breastfeed their babies at the station for free with an attending nurse to assist them when they need help.

Breastfeeding is advisable for mothers who have infants because it provides the ideal nutrition for the baby. It gives the baby a strong immune system to fight off bacteria and viruses.

“If you want your child to be smart, breastfeed your child,” Nona D. Andaya-Castillo a speaker from breastfeed committee pointed out.

Castillo differentiated the mother’s milk and the cow’s milk: mother’s milk is a brain builder while the cow’s milk is a muscle builder.  Mother’s milk will give the child a better IQ as they grow.

Infants who are breastfed by their mothers are likely to gain the right amount of weight. They also have a fewer risk in getting sick.

Maintaining mother’s milk demands having a proper diet, eating a lot of vegetables that are rich in calcium like root crops; camote, kasubha, malunggay, puso ng saging, among others.  Eating such will give mothers more milk with vitamins and nutrients.

“There is no better milk than breast milk,” Castillo concluded.

Breastfeeding must have no pain. When it does, then it’s the wrong way of breastfeeding. In learning how to breastfeed properly, visit www.breastfeedingphilippines.com.

Breastfeeding is not just feeding a child, it is also about the bonding between the mother and child. The physical closeness, the skin to skin contact and the eye to eye contact bring the mother and the baby closer to each other. (FREEMAN)
