Last March 7, the Cebu City Marriott Hotel held a grand festivity to celebrate its 15th year anniversary with the theme: 15 years of hosting you brilliantly! The celebration commenced at the Ayala Center Cebu with a photo exhibit entitled, “Marriott @ 15†which highlighted the hotel’s journey as an institutional landmark throughout its 15 years in Cebu City.
With some of the industry’s top photographers – Ted Madamba, Joseph Ong and event photographer Rey Dacalos, the exhibit showcased the company’s history, VIP visits, milestone events, and service excellence. From year 1998 when the hotel first opened as the only international hotel chain in Cebu City until today, photographs of its newly reinvented hotel facilities have assured the local community and the rest of Marriott’s frequent patrons that the hotel continues to stay current and cater to the growing needs of its community and guests.
The ceremonial ribbon cutting was opened by Cebu City Marriot Hotel’s Director of Sales & Marketing Chacha Rama, General Manager Bruce Winton, Chief Operating Officer of Ayala Hotels & Resorts Incorporated Al Legaspi and Amparito Lhuillier, who represented the Cebu community.
The celebration continued in the hotel’s newly reinvented Sampaguita Grand Ballroom where they showcased exquisite selection of cocktails prepared in front of our very eyes – from classic Marriott signature dishes such as the Mighty Mo to Executive Chef Chachpol Suaisom’s specialty Thai creations to a carving section of US Roast Beef, Australian Lamb Rack and Cebu lechon. Fine wines and spirits were provided by Barcino Corporation, Future Trade, Beringer, and Cebu Scion.
The event kicked off with an exhilarating Argentine Tango performance by award-winning Cebu team Dancesport International while all were strastruck when celebrity host Ruffa Gutierrez welcomed the crowd and entertainers Jake the Violinist and homegrown singer Cha-Cha Blanco collaborated to inspire the audience with their performance.
The grand celebration was made even grander with prizes such as round-trip tickets to Seoul, Korea via Air Busan paired with a two-night stay at the Marriott Courtyard in Seoul and round-trip tickets to Seoul via Asiana Air paired with a two-night stay at the JW Marriott Seoul.
