Sharon surprises netizens with ‘Revirginized’ stills
Megastar Sharon Cuneta became a topic on social media after she shared photos of her upcoming movie “Revirginized” to be shown in August as this is probably her most daring role yet.
In her Instagram posts last Sunday, the 55-year-old actress shared movie stills where she is doing a body shot to her 26-year-old leading man Marco Gumabao.
“OMG I have NEVER done this in real life (I don’t drink tequila or anything else with alcohol! Hahahahaha!),” wrote Sharon on IG.
A “body shot” is taking a sip of an alcoholic drink after licking salt off a person’s body, followed by taking a bite of lime.
In her vlog last April, Sharon said “Revirginized” is about the transformation of a lonely woman which happens one weekend.
“It’s nice. It’s a coming-of-age movie in many different contexts,” she added with a hearty laugh. “I’m very excited. I think I’ve earned the right after four decades to experiment and do movies that are not really the kind that my audience is used to seeing me in.”
Directed by the controversial Darryl Yap, the film will be shown in the streaming platform Vivamax.
The photos shared by Sharon in her IG account drew varied reactions.
When it was first announced that Sharon is doing a film with Direk Darryl, many of her fans had misgivings about the movie and her role. Her fans are afraid they will be shocked by the film and they fear Sharon did the wrong move.
Sharon assured her fans that while her role in “Revirginized” is daring than her usual, her fans will not be shocked and will not have a violent reaction once they see it. She said fans should watch first before reacting.
For sure, Sharon will be bashed by her detractors because of “Revirginized.” Some of them are saying that she does not fit the role and should not have accepted it because of the age factor.
We love Sharon and we were also surprised that she accepted the project. But we are willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she liked the script. This is her comeback project under Viva so we trust her judgment that this is worthy of a comeback vehicle with her erstwhile home studio.
In the same manner, we agree with what Direk Darryl told Sharon’s detractors to watch the movie first before passing judgment.
So was Sharon right in accepting the daring role? We’ll know the answer come August.
