Cebu Doc Group invests P10M on maternity center

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Doctor’s Group of Hospitals has invested P10 million for its first 50-bed Mother and Child Center at the North General Hospital in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City, which opened over the weekend.

The facility, which opened its doors a week before Mother’s Day, is a testament to the company’s commitment to serve and reach out to more people, said company president and chairman Dr. Potenciano ‘Yong’ Larrazabal III.

One hospital wing of North Gen is now dedicated to mother and child care equipped with labor and delivery rooms and a separate OB and pediatric wards.

Larrazabal said the hospital aims to reach out to more people for the more people they reach out to, the more people they will be able to help.

The hospital is located in a densely-populated community because of the mountain barangays therefore leading the personnel to attend to people of different socio-economic statuses.

The mother and child care center offers services that will quickly benefit the communities surrounding the North General Hospital.

North Gen medical director Dr. Maria Janet Porcia said the hospital even caters to patients from other places.

The Mother and Child Care Center is envisioned to provide quality service at a cost where almost anybody can afford, having one of the cheapest maternity packages in Cebu.

The facility’s maternity package is pegged at P7,500, but with the P5,000 PhilHealth benefit, patients will then have to spend only around P2,500.

“This is the cheapest hospital-based maternity package in Visayas,” Dr. Porcia said.

Larrazabal said the patients’ welfare has always been the priority of the company when they were planning the mother and child care center.

“It is an advantage for Doctors to be part of the corporate team. Doctors know how it is to be a patient, how to connect with a patient, how they feel, and try to apply that in the corporate world as well,” Larrazabal said.

To meet the needs of the patients, the hospital encourages feedback from their clients by providing comment forms in each room, wherein the patients may write their feedback and suggestions for the improvement of the hospital’s services.

“There are forms in every room. They are encouraged to write their comments and suggestions. We really take seriously the comments of the patients whether good or bad,” Dr. Enrico Gruet, Cebu Doctors’ Group of Hospitals’ vice president.

Apart from well-trained staff, the administrator ensures that their workers are aware of the comments about them to encourage them to improve their service.

The opening and blessing ceremony of the new center was joined in by several mothers and children from barangays San Jose, Pit-os, Talamban and Bacayan.

To date, Cebu Doctors’ Group has six hospitals namely South General Hospital, North General Hospital, Mactan Doctors Hospital, Ormoc Doctors Hospital, San Carlos General Hospital and Cebu Doctors University Hospital. (FREEMAN)
