                    [Summary] => The Office of the Ombudsman has junked the complaint filed by College Assurance Plans Phils. Inc. (CAP)  against Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) general accountant and former head of CAP’s oversight body Roberto Manabat due to lack of jurisdiction.  


In its complaint, CAP alleged that Manabat violated Sec. 3 of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act by granting a grossly excessive and unreasonable compensation to CAP comptroller Mario Aguas and issuing arbitrary rules. Aguas was given a monthly compensation of P100,000.

Securities and Exchange Commission General Accountant Roberto Manabat said newly-appointed comptroller Mario Aguas will be tasked with ensuring that CAP covers its maturing obligations and contributes to a separate trust fund for new plan sales.

"CAP appointed Aguas as permanent comptroller in consultation with the SEC," Manabat said.
