                    [Title] => Death of an independent art space?
                    [Summary] =>

Independent art spaces are vital elements of a thriving art scene that allows unfettered creativity, unhampered by commercial aims. These spaces, being (nearly always) artist-run, pass the reins of control to the artist, who at times is at the mercy of other members of the art community (such as gallery owners, art critics, curators and collectors) and their pressures or demands that his/her – the very creator’s – potential and power to create seems mechanized or diminished in the process.

I am an absolute vintage T-shirt junkie. Anything from a band print to a cool logo looks good to me. I love anything with a bit of art and pop culture blended together. Finding T-shirts like that here can be difficult sometimes. And when I get the design I want, it’s a hundred times too big for me. I never thought it was indie music that would lead to my discovery of cool T-shirts. Les Amants Criminels makes reference to the story of Hansel and Gretel, with Luc being the target of lust of both Alice and the enormous Woodsman, who tells the waif-like lad that he likes his boys fattened and his girls thin before he eats them.
