Young music fans today don’t know how spoiled they are. Local rock is in its nth golden age; it’s all over the radio now. On any given station, they are playing a local band you want to hear, and that is an undeniably great thing.
Five years ago, in November 2001, the first Admit One show was organized by then-fledgling indie bands Twisted Halo, Dicta License and Fatal Posporos (and later on, Sugarfree, Cambio and Happy Meals) as a means for these groups to have their own regular monthly club gig, as well as showcase the talents of other guest bands and artists in the local music scene.
I always thought that high school would be over when I left Goldilockslandia. Graduation was, for the most part, a "Ha! I made it! In your face, non-believers!" hour (or three) of triumph; a celebration of freedom from what I (like all people my age) felt was the tyranny of private education.

It’s nothing you haven’t heard before: I love music. It isn’t my life, at least not yet, but feel as though I would be incomplete without the soundtrack to my many misadventures. This is a sentiment so many people share, but also one that so many people don’t understand. There is a line in a song I like that goes: "Why is a song a world for me?" A lot of the time, I really find myself wondering how music could have come to play such a big part in my life, in our lives.

Striking a happy middle ground between the new bands, who are starting to sound alike, and the singing champions, who continue to follow the same formula, is Brownman Revival. These guys are no newcomers. If I remember right they have been around for several years and have kept their integrity intact by only doing the music they believe in. Well, their efforts have finally paid off and their album Steady Lang is a big hit.
It is almost 8 p.m. on a stormy Wednesday night. I have the boys of Kjwan debating over a very important subject to conclude our interview. It’s a matter of life and death. Xbox versus PS2. Seriously.
