This was the message of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in prodding the secessionist group to pursue peace talks with the government.


Officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said this was one of the most encouraging statements that special envoy to Islamic countries Raul Rabe got from no less than OIC secretary general Dr. Abdelouahed Belkeziz during a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

                    [Summary] => President Arroyo received yesterday a message of support from the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).


Dr. Abdellouahed Belkeziz, OIC secretary general, assured Mrs. Arroyo of the organization’s keen desire to "further enhance and strengthen the relations" between its members and the Philippines.


In Rome, former Speaker Jose de Venecia, Lakas-NUCD-UMDP national chairman, said Deputy Foreign Minister Ugo Intani has confirmed to him the Italian government’s approval of a "soft" $25-million assistance to the Arroyo administration.
