There’s an annoying cliché that seems to come with young adult novels written by women. If they aren’t fluffy rom-coms that’ll be adapted to the screen starring Shailene Woodley, they’re angst-ridden dramas that only vary through the sexed-up fantasy creature the protagonist secretly is.
